FLEETWOOD, Pa. -- Brooke Graham (Carlisle, Pa./Boiling Springs) used a final round 78 to collect her fourth top five finish in four tournaments this fall, placing fifth at the Kutztown Fall Invitational on Monday.
Graham shot a 79 in the first round, Sunday, and was one stroke better on the 5,680-yard, par 70 Moselem Springs Golf Club course, Monday. She birdied No. 7, a par 5 playing at 420 yards and added five pars to make the turn at 3-over par 38. Four more pars on the back nine helped the Carlisle, Pa., native to an 8-over 78 --her third lowest round of the season. Graham finished the 36-hole tournament with a score of 157.
Rhi Stutz (Prescott, Wisc./Prescott) was the big mover for the Golden Bears, jumping five spots up to seventh in the final standings. The sophomore from Prescott, Wisc., collected seven pars for a round of 81, which was two shots better than her opening round 83.
Finishing 25th for KU was
Gabby Cohen (Jeffersonville, N.Y./Sullivan West) with a 177 (86-91). Her final round included three pars and a birdie on the 18th, a 325-yar par 3.
Alexis Peet (Greentown, Pa./Wallenpaupack) shot 189 (97-92) to take 32nd to lead a group of four Bears bunched together in the standings.
Emma Nobles (North Wilkesboro, N.C./Wilkes Central) was 33rd at 169 (97-99), while
Brooke Prindiville (Hawthorn Woods, Ill./Lake Zurich) (93-105) and
Alivia Miesowitz (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton) (102-96) tied for 34th at 198.
Kutztown held fifth in the team standings with a two-round total of 683 (341-342). Alvernia, which held a one-shot lead over Millersville heading into the final round, pulled away for a 15-shot victory over the Marauders (636-651). West Chester was third at 670, one shot ahead of Gettysburg (671) in fourth.
Alvernia's McKylie Boreman shot matching 72s on Sunday and Monday to win the title with a 4-over 144.
The Golden Bears are next scheduled to compete in the Albright Invitational at the Schuylkill Country Club in Orwigsburg on Sunday, Oct. 13.
