ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. -- Sophomore
Brooke Graham (Carlisle, Pa./Boiling Springs) capped off an outstanding week by shooting a 4-over par 75 in adverse conditions, Sunday, to earn a share of the individual championship at the Gettysburg Fall Invitational at Hanover Country Club.
Earlier in the week, Graham tied her own school record with a 1-under 71 round to finish off the Millersville Fall Classic. On Sunday, the Carlisle, Pa., native racked up a team-high 12 pars and a birdie to tie for medalist honors with Lauren Wright of Catholic. Battling wind and rain, Graham birdied the par 5, 475-yard 17th. She produced her third round in the 70s out of four rounds this season and seventh such round of her career.
Classmate
Rhi Stutz (Prescott, Wisc./Prescott), coming off a career-low 76 during the second round of the Millersville tournament, also had another strong round to secure her third top 10 finish of the season in as many events. Stutz collected 11 pars en route to an 8-over 79 on the par 71 course playing at 5,623 yards, and finished in a three-way tie for sixth.
Establishing a new career-low round was
Alexis Peet (Greentown, Pa./Wallenpaupack). The junior from Greentown, Pa., also carded 11 pars in shooting 10-over 81 for a share of ninth place in the 50-player field.
Gabby Cohen (Jeffersonville, N.Y./Sullivan West) completed Kutztown's scoring quartet with an 87 that included seven pars.
Brooke Prindiville (Hawthorn Woods, Ill./Lake Zurich) notched a birdie on the par 5 17th and totaled a 99. Cohen placed 21st and Prindiville 38th.
Catholic, out of Washington, D.C., put all four of its scoring players in the top 10 to win the tournament with a 312 (+28). The Golden Bears placed second 10 shots back (322), one shot better than Gettysburg Blue (323). Gettysburg Orange, its second team, was fourth at 344 and Shenandoah claimed fifth at 354.
The Maroon and Gold will spend the week preparing for their home tournament, the 36-hole Kutztown Fall Invitational, on Sunday-Monday, Oct. 6-7, at Moselem Springs Golf Club.
