STROUDSBURG, Pa. -- Brooke Graham (Carlisle, Pa./Boiling Springs) shot a 9-over par 81 to tie for third and
Gabby Cohen (Jeffersonville, N.Y./Sullivan West) carded an 85 to place fifth as the Kutztown University women's golf team kicked off its 2024 fall season with a runner-up team finish at the ESU Invitational on Sunday.
Graham parred eight of the first nine holes on the 5,800-yard, par 72 layout at Glen Brook Golf Club to make the turn at 1-over 37 before shooting 44 on the back nine to finish with an 81. The sophomore finished with 12 pars on the day.
Cohen battled her way to a front nine 39 after an eagle on the par 5 sixth along with birdies on the par 4 first and par 5 ninth. She collected a pair of pars on the way in to shoot 13-over 85.
Eight pars helped sophomore
Rhi Stutz (Prescott, Wisc./Prescott) to a round of 86 and a tie for sixth place in the 21-player field. Freshman
Brooke Prindiville (Hawthorn Woods, Ill./Lake Zurich) registered a 90 in her first collegiate tournament to crack the top 10, while teammate
Alexis Peet (Greentown, Pa./Wallenpaupack) was 11th with a 91.
Another first-year player,
Emma Nobles (North Wilkesboro, N.C./Wilkes Central), finished 12th with a 92.
Grace Klements (Little Egg Harbor Township, N.J./Pinelands Regional) totaled 99 and
Alivia Miesowitz (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton) 106 to conclude Kutztown's entries.
Led by a 1-2 finish from medalist Vivian Chuang (73, +1) and Ammala Moua (79), Jefferson won the tournament by 25 shots over the Golden Bears. The Rams checked in with a 326 (+38) to KU's 351 (+63). Lock Haven was third at 403 and host East Stroudsburg did not record a team score after its fourth player withdrew.
Kutztown is scheduled to compete next at the Millersville Fall Classic on Sunday and Monday, Sept. 23-24. The tournament will be held in the Golden Bears' backyard, however, at Kutztown's Berkleigh Golf Club.
