YORK, Pa. – Kutztown women's swimming sent five swimmers to the finals and set five program top times to kick off the 2025 PSAC Championships at the Graham Aquatic Center on Monday.
 
Annamarie Rodier (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape) was KU's top individual finisher and point-scorer with a 14th-place showing in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:50.88), while a few of her teammates established new personal bests in their respective events.
 
Freshman Phoebe Armes (Somerset, UK/Millfield School) outperformed her pre-meet seeding in the 200 individual medley by 15 spots with a 2:11.83, the seventh-fastest time in program history, to place 15th and qualify for the B Final. She would go on to take 16th in the evening session. Birta Smaradottir (Mosfellsbær, Iceland/Commercial College of Iceland) was a C Final qualifier in the 200 IM with the eighth-best time in KU history (2:13.53). She backed up her prelims time with an even faster 2:12.93 in the finals to place 22nd overall and remain eighth on the top 10 list.
 
In the 50 freestyle, Kara Damico (Brookhaven, Pa./Sun Valley), Ana Soto (Hamburg, N.J./Vernon Township) and Frannie Pease-Wingenter (Goodyear, Ariz./Millennium) all advanced to the C Final after turning in the 19th, 21st and 23rd ranked times in prelims. Soto nipped her former PR with a 24.30 to finish 18th overall in the event and remain third on the program's top 10, while Pease-Wingenter jumped up to fourth with a 24.32 to finish 19th. Damico, who ranks fifth on the top 10, took 24th.
 
The lone relay of the opening day was the 800 free relay, where the Maroon and Gold finished 10th in 8:03.03. Kutztown is currently tied for 10th out of 12 in the team standings with 75 points.
 
Tuesday is set to be another action-packed day with the 100 butterfly, 400 IM and 200 freestyle on the schedule along with the 200 free and 400 medley relays.
